The School Foundation Honors Lieutenant General Charles W. Bagnal at upcoming gala
Lt. General Charles W. Bagnal, 1952 graduate of McClenaghan High School, will be honored as Florence School District One's Distinguished Graduate at the Eight Annual School Foundation Celebration Gala, Foundation officials announced recently. General Richard Myers, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will be the evening's speaker. Myers' was the military's highest ranking military officer when he served in President George W. Bush's administration, taking charge shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks. He helped plan and execute the 2003 invasion of Iraq and served in that role until 2005.
Lt. General Bagnal is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, the U.S. Army War College, holds a BS degree from West Point, an MS in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and upon retiring from the Army, obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina. He practiced law with the Ratchford Law Firm in Columbia, SC from 1995-2005. He and his wife, Patsy, current reside in Columbia.
The event will be held at the Florence Civic Center on September 24th and approximately 1000 guests are expected to attend. BB&T will sponsor a VIP reception in honor of Bagnal and Myers.
