FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

   Q. Why was the The School Foundation for Florence School District 1 created?

A. The foundation is designed to support educational excellence over and above local tax support.  It provides an easy mechanism for those who want to strengthen quality public education in Florence.

Q. I already pay taxes which support the district.  Why should I give more money to School District One?
A. Public schools educate roughly 90 percent of all Florence-area school age children.  Despite below average taxsupport, the district maintains average to above average academic performance.  If you believe our children deserve better, then contribute to the foundation that supports educational excellence.

Q. Is my gift tax deductible?
A. Yes. The School Foundation is a 501c(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Q. May I give stock?
A. Yes. Doing so may allow you a tax deduction of the entire current value of the stock while avoiding capital gains taxes.  Consult your broker about stock sold as a charitable gift. The process for donating stock is simple, contact Debbie Hyler for details.

Q. Can I give gifts over several years?
A. Absolutely. You may make a multi-year commitment which can be changed in writing by you at any time.
